Heather Nova heals us

On march 16th, 2006, in the magic Vooruit hall, in Gent, Belgium, Heather Nova gave a unique and vibrant performance of "Heal", a song from her bright album "Oyster" (1994).

This video's author qualifies this concert "an almost religious experience".

La fille au lavabo

Pour créer une photo glamour, il faut une grande fille. On peut alors faire usage de sa plastique, de son corps, graphiquement, occuper le cadre... Une longue fille, et la moitié du boulot est déjà faite.

Ici, détournement d'une image enfantine, fillette faisant sa toilette dans un évier, un tub ou je ne sais quoi...

Le reflet dans la glace nous amène à une tout autre lecture. Cette jeune, longue et pulpeuse créature se trouve en effet dans des toilettes pour hommes.

Symbole d'une époque qui répudie ou détourne l'innocence ? Goût du contraste, de la provocation facile, surannée ? Reflet allégé d'une tendance glamour/trash ? Qui sait...

L'innocence est en tout cas présente dans le regard.

Une grande fille, et le spectateur est pris entre désir et attendrissement.
